The area received a 4′ storm surge from the hurricane that passed through north of the area. Here is what I heard from the park on Thursday, August 31st:
Fort De Soto Park will re-open on Friday at 7 a.m., but with no access to East Beach, Arrowhead, and hiking trails. Parking at North Beach may be limited due to standing water. The Campground will re-open but the number of sites available is limited due to standing water in some sites. Additional park areas and campsites will be available to the public as waters subside. Camping at Shell Key Preserve (with permit) will also re-open on Friday.
The only area that is mentioned that we use is the North Beach Parking lot. While we fully expect all of the water there to subside from that area before the event, we will work around as necessary when we set up there Saturday Morning.
Also, we have extended the packet pickup time on Saturday by an hour, so you can now pick up from 9am to noon!
